The Highlights

We enjoy our wonderful meeting spot in Keila. The meeting room of our Kiwanis Club is in the Restaurant "Alibi" in marvellous wide hall. During the meeting there is possibility to get drinks of large scale from the beautiful bar and order delicious meals for dinner.

The club was chartered on October, 1992 and has been involved in several community projects over that time. Despite a short but rich history, we are looking to the future.

The club has 20 members, average age of approximately 44. The average is decreasing as newer, younger members join the club and take up the challenges and rewards of community service. At present we have two female members and we are hoping to attract many more.

A sense of fun pervades our work. Whether it be organising the Annual Fair in spring or Kiwanis Doll Project or building the Snowtown in winter or the trials with Lions Club, we enjoy our community work. A good sense of humour and the ability to not take ourselves too seriously is essential.

What Is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is a worldwide service organization of individuals who want to improve their communities. As a group , they can achieve what they cannot do alone.
These men and women attend Kiwanis club meetings for fellowship and inspiration. They perform voluntary community service through committees...usually after hours.
Kiwanis is not a social club nor secret or political society. It does not prescribe a way of life for others. It often does, however, act as a forum for diverse ideas.

What Does Kiwanis Do?

It performs service beyond the capability of the individual: assistance to the ageing, the needy, and to youth; improvement of communities; encouragement of international understanding.

Who Can Join?

Individuals of good standing in the community - generally invited by the Kiwanis club, itself. The cost is low, considering the tremendous satisfaction Kiwanis membership provides.

In the Beginning

Kiwanis was founded in Detroit, Michigan, January 21, 1915. It extended into Canada in 1916. In 1962 Kiwanis extended from North America to become already the worldwide service organization.
